June

Sessions with JIGSAW started.

Fun First supports Adult Literacy Early intervention workshops by providing detailed input into the importance of using songs, rhymes and stories with young children.

 

Leaders attend Drama training.

6 week block of movement and rhyme sessions started in Parklands special school.

Fun First supports Active Play initiative by Argyll and Bute’s Early Years and Family Support.

Activity Managers meet with Evaluation Support Scotland to review evaluation process.  New evaluations introduced as a result.

Fun First Forever receives lottery Grant of £5303 to purchase equipment.

August

Health Visitors bring ‘Baby weigh-ins’ to 2 of the Bookstart Rhymetime sessions

 

Re-launch group under new name of FUN FIRST.

June

Activity Managers in talks with Adult Literacy with regards to how we can help with family literacy issues.

 

Storytellers (Faletales) invited into local school to carry out sessions with Primary 1s.

Bounce and Tumble (Fitness) trial sessions started.

Further Storytelling training from leading expert for all Activity Leaders.

Due to growing demand and requests from parents two new Bookstart Rhymetime sessions are set up.  One in Cove , a new area for the group, the other in the Family Centre in Churchill, to encourage links with the local Naval Community.

 

Storytelling training from leading expert for all Activity Leaders. Storyteller trial session with 5-7yr olds.

1st Storyteller session for 3-5 yr olds established monthly in Helensburgh Library.

 

4th Activity Leader employed.

2007

December

Activity Managers asked to make presentation at Bookstart training day.

Activity Manager posts created.

 

Bounce and Tickle sessions re-launched as Bookstart Rhymetimes.

 

Thursday Baby Bounce and Tickle session established.

 

Bookstart Rhymetime training for Activity leaders.

April

Activity Leaders requested to take story session in local nursery.

 

Library makes books (specific to our topics) available for parents to borrow while at the Monday sessions.

January

Argyll and Bute Council approaches Bounce and Tickle to be involved in new ‘Story of the Month’ scheme.

 

MAKATON training for Activity Leaders.

2006

August

First Aid courses for committee and activity leaders.

 

3rd Activity Leader employed.

June

Uniforms introduced.

 

Large format books brought for storytime.

 

New Thursday Bounce and Tickle session established.

 

Helensburgh and Lomond Toy Library reopens.

April

Bounce and Tickle becomes Registered Scottish Charity.  SCO037292

March

Activity Leaders run Storytelling session, voluntarily, at library for local council nursery.

February

Bounce and Tickle is approached by Argyll and Bute Council about taking on the running of the threatened Helensburgh and Lomond Toy Sign Language introduced.

Monday pm sessions change to Friday pm.

2005

October

 Coop Dividend Grant helps establish a  lending library of books at Kirkmichael centre.

August

Non fiction books introduced at storytime.

June

Website set up.

 Email address set up.

 

Committee employs 3rd part time activity leader to be used as supply and cover afternoon sessions.

 

Constitution updated to meet requirements suggested by Inland Revenue in our application for Charity Status Child Protection Policy in place.

 

Child Protection Policy put in place.

2004

August

Committee employs second Activity Leader.

 

New afternoon sessions are introduced on Mondays at Helensburgh Library.

 

Baby Bounce and Tickle introduced at Helensburgh Library to meet growing demand and to give young babies and their parents/carers more individual attention.

 

Committee employs second Activity Leader.

March

 Changes to the constitution introduced.

 

 Monday library session continues to grow now regularly 40 -50 attending.  Kirkmichael sessions remains around 15 – 20.

2003

August

 Introduction of props at sessions.

 

Over 120 children have now attended at least one session.  30-35 children regularly attended Monday Library sessions and 15 regularly attend Kirkmichael Centre sessions.

May

1st AGM held.

April

Parent evaluations are introduced.

March

 Committee succeeds to stabilise the group financially after threatened closure due to lack of funds.

 

Complete paperwork overhaul is instigated by committee to meet the growing demand and make the group more efficient – changes to constitution were made, sign- in sheets, waiting lists and membership requirements and forms drawn up, song sheets printed.  This all helped to further stabilise the group.

2002

August

Fundraising events begin.  Suggested donation of £1 requested from parents attending.

 

Management committee establishes a ‘Fundraiser’ post to try to protect the long term future of the group.

April

Committee employs Activity Leader on part time basis.

March

New sessions are established in Kirkmichael Centre, The Social Inclusion Area for Helensburgh, to target local and vulnerable of families.

January

1st Childcare Strategy Grant applied for.

 

Group becomes constituted.

 

Members group and management committee is established.

2001

August

Health Visitor links are established and Health Visitors start to encourage parents to attend sessions.

 

Numbers attending library session grow to around 18 per week.

June

Due to growing demand sessions are introduced on weekly basis.

March

Argyll and Bute Library Services and Home Link work together to    establish fortnightly Bounce and Tickle sessions in Helensburgh Library.
